11 teams depart on the adventure of a lifetime as they race around the world Starting at the iconic Melbourne Cricket Ground, they’ll cover 50,000km, four continents, 12 countries and 23 cities before returning to Australia to crown the winners. The adventure will see them crisscross the globe, unsure of what challenges lie ahead. What they do know is that the race will be fast-paced and unrelenting. It will test their ability to work together as a team, challenge their personal relationships and provide life-changing experiences. Along the way they’ll confront fears, develop confidence, experience new cultures and make lifelong friends. At each destination teams will compete in a series of challenges – some mental and some physical. And some teams will find the biggest challenge is just getting there. Ahead they’ll face dizzying heights, heavy loads, confronting foods, language barriers, money concerns and races to the pit stop as well as Roadblocks, Detours, Fast Forwards, Yields and U-turns. Who will have the right combination of strategy, strength, skill and teamwork to win the $250,000 prize?
When teams race through the stunning deserts of Dubai, simply getting from A to B may prove to be the biggest challenge of all. Breakdowns, bogging and belligerent camels will push some to the limit.
When the race heads to beautiful Istanbul, some teams turn on each other while others turn on workmates Paul and Steve. An apparently simple market challenge will test the patience of every team.
The remaining 8 teams race through beautiful Istanbul, where a Turkish bath challenge has contestants in a lather. And what will happen when racers are faced with a burly pack of Turkish oil wrestlers
All teams are excited to learn they are heading to Paris - and straight into a culinary adventure. But sparks fly when Joseph and Grace steal Sarah and James' taxi.
Joseph and Grace find the consequences of "Taxigate" to be far-reaching as they're confronted by James and Sarah in Cuba. A detour involving two Cuban icons ends with shattering results.
As teams race to beautiful Vancouver, a "sleep in" could prove costly for one pair. One of the biggest and most spectacular challenges of the race will test the limits of some teams.
The race reaches Banff in the stunning Canadian Rocky Mountains. Teams struggle on the snow and ice. Climbing a frozen waterfall proves particularly tough for a race favourite.
The remaining teams battle to make the top 3 in Beijing, China. The racers are in for a shock when they receive a 'massage', and on the way to the Great Wall, one team makes a costly mistake.
In the Grand Finale, the three remaining teams will race across two continents in the quest to cross the finish line first. Language difficulties trip up teams in the beautiful southern Chinese countryside.
